San Salvatore Monferrato is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 70 km east of Turin and about 10 km northwest of Alessandria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,629 and an area of 31.6 km².

Main sights

The tower of the Paleologi was erected for Theodore II, Marquess of Montferrat. It still bears the scars of cannonballs fired at it during the nineteenth-century Italian wars of independence.[2]

Also of interest are the 16th century churches of San Martino e San Siro.
